  • We like ‘Kaisers Rock’

We like ‘Kaisers Rock’ (oil on canvas 80×120) by photo-realistic artist Sarah Graham – the latest original painting by the Hitchin based artist was commissioned by Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson following his Google search – ‘photo-realistic fruit’ !!. The band’s latest album ‘Souvenir’ went on sale this week featuring a crop of Sarah’s modern masterpiece, ‘Kaisers Rock’. See the very talented Sarah Graham at work on her commission.

  • We like TOMS

We like the latest One for One™ campaign by shoe retailer TOMS: Summer of Sight. For every pair of sunglasses purchased, TOMS gives sight to a person in need, either through prescription glasses, surgery or medical treatment. Let’s help them to meet their summer target of 100,000 donations.

  • We like Raspberry Pi

Having worked closely with ICT in primary education, we are really pleased to see this week’s release of the Raspberry Pi, a credit card-sized computer that might just save the nation from producing another generation of school leavers who think computer programming means being able to use MS PowerPoint!

The Raspberry Pi is intended to inspire a new generation of schoolchildren to learn to program, just as the Sinclair Spectrum and BBC Micro did in the 1980s.

“The ideal” says Eben Upton, founder of the charity behind the scheme, “is to give one away to every child as they reach a new school year so that they can do their own programming and learn to control computers, rather than be controlled by them.”

We couldn’t agree more. We’ve been saying for years that the humble computer is just another pencil that anyone with a creative mind needs to control.
